For as long as I can remember I have been painting.
As a child I would spend hours in my room putting brush to paper. For some reason I always painted portraits of women. They were formed out of the ether, from images in my mind. I never tended to use a photo, nor did I have anyone posing for me. Some how those beings formed themselves into life on the page, complete with a narrative and complex emotions.
While my technique has changed over the years, the element of narrative still remains. There’s a story behind each face, an emotion behind the eyes.
I recently held my very first solo exhibition. A collection of pieces (mostly portraits) that conjure up a sense of story and feeling.
